Jason Martin is Principal Tuba of the Encore Wind Ensemble and Northern Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Above Average Tuba Quartet, Classic Brass Quintet, and Elk River German Band. He has been an active performer throughout the Twin Cities for many years and is a proud alumnus of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Jason remains a lifelong student of the tuba and enjoys performing across a wide range of musical settings, from solo and chamber music to wind ensemble and orchestral repertoire.
Jason is excited to perform Edward Gregson’s Tuba Concerto with the Encore Wind Ensemble. Written for renowned British tubist John Fletcher, the work was premiered by Fletcher on April 24, 1976, under the direction of Edward Gregson and has since become a cornerstone of the modern tuba repertoire.
